inkscape crashes on start

Hello,

I am using opensuse 42.1, gnome 3.16.2, on an xw6200 machine with 8g of ram. I have tried repeatedly to use the prepackaged version for opensuse using 'zypper in inkscape'. What I get is "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now." in a popup. If I run inkscape 0.92.1 r from the terminal I get what is listed below. I have tried to install from the package manager, zypper, srcpackage and then proceeded to configure, make and make install (I have deleted that directory) but got the same error. I have seemed to have problems finding gtk, gtkmm, and gdkmm while running configure but worked it out. I think I worked this out by installing gtk2 32 bit. Then I downloaded the source from inkscape and tried to use cmake, which failed to compile. I don't remember the error. I then used make again, configure, make, make install and got the exact same error.

There must be something I have misconfigured because I don't see this error anywhere and It seems to be fairly consistent.

recently my hard drive failed, I had to reinstall... inkscape works fine in 42.2
