when dragging a symbol from the symbol dialog to the page, in Inkscape 0.92.1 and previously, there was always visual feedback. Both the symbol itself, or a thumbnail of it, and also a special 'copy' cursor would be shown at the mouse location.

in trunk neither of these two aids is shown. Instead we see the symbol displayed in the top left corner of the application, with no cursor.

I can confirm the issue (also on Windows 10).

Probably a gtk3 issue.

Actually this is not low importance, as it breaks usage of the symbols dialog completely. This has to be fixed before 0.93.

Would be nice to know if this happens on Linux too, or if this is a Windows-only issue.

Not reproduced on Xubuntu 16.04 with lp:inkscape rev. 15657. The symbol and the cursor correctly show at the mouse location.

Setting importance to Medium for now.

This (was) a gtk3 issue [1] (they broke the win32 backend once again)

Fixed in gtk 3.22.13(14), see also [2] for details.

Since at this point I'd consider MSYS2 builds as the way to go I guess we can close this?
