I can confirm this bug (though Alt-D is 'clone', not
'duplicate'). The bug arises from the fact that Inkscape
uses ALT-shortcuts for functions, while ALT is generaly only
used for menus.
As a translator, I cannot influence the in-program
shortcuts. Alt-D for the 'beeld' (view) menu is a Gnome
default, so I'm sticking to that. I'm not sure there are any
GTK-rules about this (as Inkscape is a GTK program, not a
GNOME-one).
this is fixed in svn and will be in the soon coming 0.44
because configurable keymaps are implemented, so you can
assign the key combination you want to the Clone function.
