Bug Description

I had this problem with both 0.92 and 0.92.1.

I create and sell high-resolution graphics. I'm unable to export large file (3mb+) at 300DPI and above. When I try to export files - usually 12 x 12" - I get a blank, black image file that's usually no more than 150kb in size. This happened at least 3 times while I was in the process of creating graphics for commercial purposes. It caused me to revert to version 0.91.

I noticed other bugs with version 0.92 but tried to look past them. First, it doesn't seem possible to create global settings. I found myself setting document properties like unit of measurement and snapping distance for individual files. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to set a default line height for fonts. It's set to 4px automatically and doesn't scale when I increase font size. I was willing to live with these bugs but could not do the same for the export problem.

I apologize for not having screenshots. The problem doesn't actually occur in the Inkscape interface. The problem seems to be with the image export feature which fails to export large images at high resolutions.

Can't reproduce with 0.92.1 on Linux. I successfully exported a 3.8M world map (https://goo.gl/C3o5Ly) at 300DPI. Make sure the width is updated before you click 'Export'. 12 x 12 is absolutely wrong.

For the document units and snap settings, you could create a custom template.

@Rosemary: Any chance you could attach an SVG file that does not export properly for you (plus the export settings chosen)?

Who killed the bird? :-)

@twosnitza - it seems that the problem you are having with the pdf output is not related to the original bug report. It is somehow related to the presence of clip paths and masks in the image.
When I edit the svg file to remove the one clip path and also the mask, I get the attached svg file, which will show the bird image if you save it as pdf.
