Several strange text bugs when working with AI-created file

Bug Description

The attached file was created in AI. If you select the
node with id="XMLID_3_", then you will observe the
following in Inkscape 0.42:

** There is a lot of flickering and strange behavior
when you try to select text in the text box.

** All sub-tspans have the same attribute
"fill:#46402d", but XMLID_3_ does not have any fill
attribute. It would be nice if parent nodes "virtually
inherited" attributes that are in common to all child
nodes, for editing purposes (currently the fill just
shows up on the text box as "?", and can't be edited).

** If you select XMLID_3_ and go "Object to Path", the
text becomes black (loses its color attribute).
Presumably the tspans are inheriting the parent text
color of "undefined".

Thanks!

If the sub-tspans had different fill colours, then what
should Object-to-path do?

For comparison, Object-to-path refuses to operate on a group.

Can someone please confirm that the current stable/svn version of inkscape is still impacted ?

Just tested on recent SVN version of 0.46, still has all the same problems. The XMLID_3_ text is down the bottom right of the darker region on the background. Text selection for a specific piece of text is almost impossible. Converting to path actually causes it to disappear entirely.

Converting to path does not make it disappear.
Text selection is still weird.

Not replicated in 0.92.4 and 1.1-dev (6b4d57f, 2020-04-01), Windows 10. The letters have the correct color set.

Replicated in 0.92.4, seems fixed in master.

"fill:#46402d", but XMLID_3_ does not have any fill

You can still edit the color of the text box, which will then override the color of the tspans.

IMO, this will cause more confusion than benefit. If you really think this should be done, please open a new issue at http://inkscape.org/report, then the discussion can be continued over there.
