Bad cursor movement in text without xml:space="preserve"

Try to introduce 2 spaces in the middle of the word
"software" on the .svg attached and you will see the
problem.

This file was created with corel draw and exported
there to .svg format.

Well, I'm surprised it took this long, but we finally have a bug
report about xml:space=default. Have you had any good
ideas about what to do since the last time we discussed this

The unability to insert space is not a bug. This text object
has no xml:space="preserve" and therefore, per SVG spec,
shows multiple adjacent spaces as one space.

However the behavior where the cursor still moves to the
right after pressing Space, even though no space was
inserted, is a bug. Cyreve, do you think this can be fixed
easily?

A space does get inserted, even though you can't see it. I
think it would be strange for nothing to appear to happen in
this case, even though I agree that what does happen is way
out of line of users' expectations. I was actually thinking of
something like flashing a message; I think we even
discussed possibly switching on preserve as soon as the
user starts editing.
