Bug Description
I am using Inkscape 0.92.0 r15299 on Windows 10.
I have an object that I spent a lot of time perfecting with several filters. In fact, I made several different ones over the course of many hours. In order to use the object, I have to ungroup it because I need one piece to be behind another object and the other piece in front.
When I ungroup, all the filters disappear, leaving me with my original unmodified graphic. I ended up starting over multiple times. However, this issue keeps biting me as I find more and more grouped/filtered objects that I need to ungroup.
in desperation, I finally found a workaround. If I rt.-click and select "enter group," I can then drag one piece away from the other. This results in breaking the group apart while leaving the filters intact.
I should say, in case this is relevant, the object is a google symbol (figure 8 on its side). I manually broke the symbol apart with an external program and imported the bitmaps into 2 separate vector objects. The two pieces, when moved up against each other do something that merges the filters on either side so that they look like they belong together (nice feature, thanks) Pulled apart, they each have additional edges that appear. Not sure if this is relevant to the ungrouping process. Thanks.

Which filter are you using? I tested with the simple blur filter, and it got applied to each single object on ungrouping.
Can you add a test file, please?
The issue with using filters on groups, instead of paths or shapes, is that it (as good as) *always* looks different when you release the grouping - which is because the filters, if applied to each object individually, look different on those individual objects (things like transparencies overlaying and size differences come into play).
So, it should give you a different visual result, but the filter should still be applied to each object on ungrouping.
If you want to keep the visual effect on the group, entering the group using double-click, or selecting items independently of their group by doing Ctrl+Click is a good solution - independently of the issue of the filter apparently vanishing here. A test file will help us find out what's wrong.
