Bug Description

It appears that when generating a dxf from a closed path that it can add zero length paths to the resulting shape. I have described this issue in more detail here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/80563-introduction-to-using-inkscape-to-produce-cutting-files/page-7#entry2617317

I am using the Windows version of Inkscape 0.91 r13725 on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Possibly related to bug #1098283 (comments 10-13) - the improved fix described in comment 22 is not part of Inkscape 0.91 (it should be available in 0.92.0 though).

@Mike - as far as I can tell, it is behaving as expected. I am attaching the dxf file. In QCad each rectangle shows up as five points, of which the last point is a duplicate of the first point. And the closed flag is set so that it can be edited without breaking up the links.

More details are available at:

P.S. running Inkscape 0.92.0 r15299

If I draw a rectangle in Autocad then save the file as a dxf it imports into Inkscape as a path comprising 4 nodes - the corners. Surely that is what one would expect.

Going back to my original Inkscape drawing the different save as dxf option give different results. If I deselect the two spline options the exported dxf opens in Inkscape as a rectangle comprising 6 nodes.

yes, I believe there have been changes made since 0.91. Also, it looks as if you probably did not choose the LWPOLYLINE option, which is usually preferable, meaning it will give you a connected object.

Have downloaded and installed 0.92 r15299 and saved the svg file as a DXF with the LWPOLYLINE selected and on opening the resulting dxf in Inkscape end up with a rectangle comprising 4 nodes. This is what I would expect so really pleased with this result.
