Maybe they should also also take the object's stroke style...

If you need this Right Now, for a workaround, you can edit
their style in the XML editor -- they're under "defs" --
just duplicate the one you want, and copy in its style from
the object, being careful to remove the stroke bits having
to do with arrows (unless you want to crash Inkscape via
infinite
recursion).
