edit/copy selected object results in "no layers found" warning leaving clipboard empty

Bug Description

selecting the "y/m" object in the attached svg file and then trying to copy it to the clipboard with ctrl-c or edit|copy results in a dialog popping up with message "no layers found". the clipboard stays empty.

this is a screenshot of the popup. manipulating the file further, the process usually leads to inkscape crash...

hint: the example file was created by a pdf import...
