Bug Description

I'm testing version 0.92 build 15081 on Archlinux. I can't really be specific about this problem because nothing seems to work right. I can't open many files from previous (0.91) Inkscape version because many text boxes have changed baselines for the text and there is no logic at all to the values. If I duplicate the boxes, the baseline changes again. The numbers in the baseline editing box don't make any sense. Starting new text isn't much better. If I reduce the text size, baseline changes again, at least visually on the canvas. None of the values make sense. In 0.91 it works fine.

Could you attach one or more original versions of examples (SVG files) created with Inkscape <= 0.91 which render differently or unexpectedly in recent trunk builds (0.92+devel) or latest 0.92 prerelease candidates (0.92pre3)? Unmodified original files which had not been re-saved with (unstable) development builds would be most helpful to allow further investigation into details that may trigger different interpretations of line spacing / line height values.

Hi. I apologise for not getting back about this issue. I should really attack a file but the document is quite complex. Here is what happens. I open a file which has a font size 10.666666px. I'm not sure what font size I actually set in the previous Inkscape version but if I then change that font size to 10px or any other number the crazy baseline spacing disappears. Changing the font size seems to mysteriously fix the problem. Then the spacing between baselines appears to work normally. I have yet to play around with the latest release to see if new work gives me any problems. There were other problems which I had in 0.92 before the final release. These are now fixed in the latest release so I can work in 0.92.

I am now working in px units throughout Inkscape because I want to use it for web graphics. I'm not sure if this has any bearing on any of this but things seem OK and usable now, at least so far.

Closing due to lack of test cases - known issue with baseline spacing of text in legacy files are tracked in bug #1655483.

Issues with baseline spacing of text in legacy files (last edited with <= 0.91) which persist in Inkscape 0.92.1 should be filed separately (for new reports, please provide the original files which have not yet been resaved with Inkscape 0.92.x).
