Bug Description

I recently updated ubuntu from 14.04 to 16.04.
This upgraded my inkscape from 0.48.05 to 0.91.

When I open SVG files (or pdf files) made with 0.48.05 using 0.91, the embedded tiffs are screwed up. The objects themselves have the same aspect ratio as they had previously, but the aspect ratio of the image data is not the same as the object and different from what it should be. Each image object then consists of the image data at some screwey aspect ratio surrounded by white space to fill out the object itself.

I have opened several files on several different computers running ubuntu 16.04 and inkscape 0.91. They have all shown the same problem.

When I examine the files on a computer running ubuntu 14.04 and inkscape 0.48.5, the images are fine.

If I save the files as PDFs using inkscape 0.48.5 then open the files using 0.91, the images are screwed up.

This makes 0.91 unusable for working on my files from 0.48.5 with embedded images.
Also, there is no copy of 0.48.5 in the ubuntu 16.04 repositories...

This sounds like a known bug in Inkscape 0.91. It can be fixed by using the extension available from here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1357808

(specifically, the one in this comment:

(or rather, the bug was in 0.48.5, but its consequences are only visible in 0.91)
