Try to make a ball like structure: make a circle with the circle tool, remove the stroke and added a gradient ->fill->radial gradient. When I now take the circle and move it the gradient stays at the same spot and the circle getting fully black again.

and check the status of the toggle buttons at the far right end on the select tool controls bar. Does the reported issue persist if the setting for "Move gradients (in fill and/or stroke) along with object" matches the user's current intent?
