Object fill colour change after use of fill tool

After applying the fill tool I want to fill another area with a different colour. So I change the colour. Hence the fill tool is still active.

Now the last filled area changes to the colour being selected despite this object NOT being selected.

May be this is the intended behaviour, but anyway I find it akward and also it is ambigious/misleading. Normally one can only change the colour of an object if it is selected. If no object is selected and a tool is active the colour setting of the tool changes.

So after having applied the fill the fill tool is still active, which is confirmed in the status bar. It would be consistant if the colour of the fill tool would change then.
