Bug Description

I installed Inkscape 0.91 on Windows Vista. It adds an Edit with Inkscape entry to the context menu for .svg files in Windows Explorer, but it does not do the same for PDF files. I have to choose Open with... then Browse for C:\Program Files\Inkscape.

Expected result: after installing Inkscape, PDF files get "Edit with Inkscape" and "Open with > Inkscape" in their context menu in Windows Explorer.

Partially agreed. The installer should ask which file extensions should be open with Inkscape IMHO. Not only PDF, but also PS, EPS...

Could also be a set of options in the Edit>Preferences dialog.

@jazzynico, I think you're talking about a default "Open with Inkscape" Windows Explorer action that happens when you double-click the file. Few people would want to open PDFs by default in Inkscape if they have Adobe Acrobat. I'm suggesting adding an "Edit with Inkscape" for all the file formats it can edit, which seems pretty safe, the installer need not ask.

Setting which files open in Inkscape by default is a separate enhancement. If I recall correctly VLC's Windows installer lets you set which media files you want to open in VLC by default. It's useful for some people to be able to do this during installation but it's a confusing step in the installer. It still beats changing defaults automatically as QuickTime for Windows used to do.

(Disclaimer: I'm not a Windows Registry or installer expert :)
