Bug Description
Inkscape 0.91 r13725
Windows 7 x64
When opening Inkscape with floating palettes on a system with a different screen configuration than last time (e.g. external monitor on a different side than last time, or any other difference), palettes open with title bars completely off-screen and the palette itself can be partially or completely invisible.
It's almost impossible to move them back into a visible area of the screen, as they don't have separate icons in the taskbar. The only way to move them back to a visible/usable location is by selecting the partially visible portion (if any), pressing Alt-Space, then Move from the menu, then it can be moved around. This procedure is obscure and provides no affordances for the user.
When restoring the location of palettes upon open, palettes should check to ensure that they (at least the title bar) are within the currently visible screen area, and if not, move themselves into that area.
Thanks for taking the time to file a report!
Apparently a duplicate of Bug #379463 "offscreen dialogs" <https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/inkscape/ +bug/379463>.
