document properties will not show

neither "shift+control+D" nor "file -> document propertied" provide access to the document's properties.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled from the dot org inscape side and rebooted.

Still no document properties window

Which OS ? It might appear off-screen (especially on mac os x or with 2 monitors).

New observation :
An hour or so after the last reinstall the document property window
re-appeared.
