Bug Description
Hi,
Situation:
- Create an object with a gradient in document A
- Copy this object to another Inkscape file (doc B)
- Objects are similar -> this is ok
- Change the colour setting of a gradient stop in Doc A
- Copy this object again to document B
- Now the colour settings of the old gradient in document B are addopted for the pasted object
I realise this is not really a bug. However, it might be preferable to get a warning saying "Gradient xxx already excists in this document" just to draw the attention of a (less experienced) user to this situation. I stumbled upon this while copying a logo with a slightly changed gradient. In the receiving document the logo appeared slightly darker and I was completely baffled. I discovered that the Logo was already in this file in a hidden layer. After removing this instant of the logo and using the "clean up document" function eventually the logo appeared correctly after pasting.
Also if one makes a small change to a gradient, that nevertheless is important, e.g. in a customer's logo, the change in the gradient could remain unnoticed untill one makes a large print or views the object while zooming in.
System set up:
Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1
