undo and redo icons are missing. In their place are 'X' . But note that when these X's are clicked they work. kindly advise.

The issue was already reported in bug #1269698 "Preferences, Undo, Redo and Revert stock icons are missing", so I'm going to mark your report duplicate.
Note that a workaround is ready for 0.91.1, but we don't have a release date for that minor version yet.
