Auto-append .png on file export

Dear all,

I've noticed that Inkscape 0.91 on Ubuntu 15.10 does not automatically append the .png file name extension on file export.

This would be a very useful feature.

Sometimes it occurs to me that I happen to forget the .png when preparing the name for the file export.

Would it be possible for Inkscape to recognise if the user forgot to append the .png extension and in this case automatically append it?
