Bug Description

My system is Windows 7 (64 bit) - all updated.
I open a Inkscape 0.9. I open a file that contains vector and bitmap.
Then I choose import. I browse to Desktop - select the bitmap file and CRASH.

Here's what Win7 says:

Did you use the 32bit or 64bit installer for Inkscape 0.91?

Could you also attach a test case (the mentioned SVG file, and bitmap images which trigger the crash on import) or at least more information about the types of bitmap images involved in such crashes (already embedded ones, and those selected for preview/import in the file chooser)?

Based on the described symptoms (and assuming that 64bit Inkscape is installed), this could be another variation of the known issue already tracked in
* Bug #1467103 “Crash due to re-registering GdkPixbufGdipAnim during BMP read”

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Incomplete
tags: added: bitmap

Hi,

Name of file installer was*/: inkscape-0.91-x64.msi

/*Yes the link you provied, to the known bug, sounds like what happened
to me (my Inkscape just vanished from the screen).

The bitmap was quite large - about 4 mb. The image was a Google Earth
screen image, a bmp opened and then saved with PhotoImpact. I forget
why I did all that - probably thought it was a way to stop Inkscape from
crashing. Anyway - soon after I sent off my crash report I changed how
Windows works and I'm now not able to replicate the crash!
Windows has a thing called "Folder Options" and one can choose to have a
single-click to open files (with point to select). For some things in
Windows this is great but for things like right clicking and choosing
the menu it caused problems. So I set it back to the default - which is
a double-click to open files. So that might be why Inkscape is behaving
OK right now.

Hope I've been of help.

Thank you for responding.

(I like Inkscape the more I learn how to use it.)

Regards
Murray

Bug #1467103 was fixed by the major devlibs64 update in r19, so there's a good chance this bug is fixed, too.

@Murray - If you like you can grab a recent Inkscape build from [1] and confirm if it fixes the issue for you.
