Bug Description
When I configure my monitors in "mirroring" inkscape works fine.
However, when I configure a dual monitor setup (where the desktop spans two monitors)
Inkscape does not work properly.
Startup is fine and i can create a new document.
Opening an existing document does not work properly,I see a brief flash of a partially drawn window on the left side of the main screen, but afterword no window is present on either monitor.
The same file can be opened just fine in "mirror" configuration.
I can see the documents in the xquartz window list, but selecting them changes nothing.
Bring all to front also does nothing.
Its not that this window is small or behind some other window, i can't find any pixels
Xquartz version: 2.7.8 (xorg-srver 1.16.4)
Inkscape version: 0.91
Mac OS Version: 10.11.1
Thank you for taking the time to file the report - the issue is known (upstream XQuartz incompatibility with the changed default configuration for 'Spaces' with multi-screen configurations) on OS X 10.9 and later, already tracked for Inkscape in /bugs.launchpad .net/inkscape/ +bug/1244397

Workaround as recommended by the main XQuartz developer:
<quote>
2) Turn off "Displays have separate spaces" in Mission Control if you need to use X11 across multiple displays
