Materials tools from filters menu lag when used on an object

Example. When you choose and create a rectangle (or sphere does not matter), give it a color and then want to add an effect from the Materials tools under Filter menu bar, and when after that you want to scale or move that object around you will notice a couple seconds of lagging. You drag the object and you can see it broken into many shadows and then when you put it on another place the shadows will follow the object in a lagging manner. It does not happen if you don't use any of the effects in Materials bar. And if you give the object some more effects from the Filter menu bar the issue even gets worse. The more effects you add the heavier it becomes and there's more lagging.

Yes, complex filters (and materials filters are very complex) tend to be very slow, particularly at high zoom level.
Note that you can adjust some rendering parameters in the Edit>Preferences, Rendering tab.

Unfortunately the Filter effects and Gaussian blur quality for display options are broken in 0.91 (see Bug #1512729 "Filter effects and blur quality options broken" <https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1512729>). But adjusting the number of threads seems to somewhat improve rendering speed.
