pdf import: default zoom is too small

Bug Description

On my system, I set up inkscape to open new windows at maximal size.
Now, when I import a page from a pdf file, the default zoom level is very small, the page occupies only a small fraction of the available space.
So each time I import a pdf page, the first thing I do is to set the zoom to fit the page.
This is a loss of time and it would be better to do that automatically.

This is using inkscape 0.91 on debian jessie.

Could you please give some details on your Windows settings (Edit>Preferences>Interface>Windows). and particularly the Default window size and Saving window geometry parameters?
Could you also confirm that you're importing (with File>Import) a PDF document, and not opening (File>Open) it?

Testing on Xubuntu 15.04 with Inkscape 0.91 and trunk rev. 14379 shows a different behavior when using different window size and *opening* a PDF:
. opening a PDF with a small or large window reduces the window size (maybe a bug?) and changes the zoom level.
. opening it with a maximized window just change the zoom level so that the page fits to the PDF document, and the page stays maximized.
Importing seems to be consistent (the window size and zoom level don't change).

Changed in inkscape:
status: New → Incomplete

To reproduce the behavior, I use "Open with" in nautilus and then I choose "inkscape".
My default window size is "maximized" and the saving window geometry setting is "remember and use the geometry of the last window".
