Bug Description
OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 (Jan 22 2014)
Using:
inkscape "filename" --export-
from terminal doesn't work if filename has spaces in it. Expected that a name in quotes is read as a name of one file in which spaces are included.

Not reproduced as described (i.e. inkscape processes quoted file names with spaces correctly on the command line) on
Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (VM 64bit, host: OS X 10.7.5):
- Inkscape 0.48.4
- Inkscape 0.91 r13725 (Inkscape PPA)
- Inkscape 0.91+devel r14341 (Inkscape PPA)
(tested with personal as well as with guest account, terminal log from guest account attached)
OS X 10.7.5, local unix-style builds:
- Inkscape 0.48.4, 0.48.5
- Inkscape 0.91 r13725
- Inkscape 0.91+devel r14339
Do you possibly have a shell script wrapper which drops the quotes? What is the output of this command:
$ type -a inkscape
and of this one:
$ inkscape -x
