Perhaps these open symbols can be shipped with the main inkscape package for all platforms. Even when a .deb will be made, users in OSX and Windows will be missing out on these as for most beginners or less tech savvy users it might prove to difficult to install these symbols manually.

Even if they could be available as extras, assets, or icon libraries those icons would be amazing and would make users even more excited using Inkscape. That's for sure.

which is included in the SVG file" - can't find those licences in the respective SVG files. One would have to look them up in their original projects, to find out how they can be used.

You are right, some of them include the license and some of them don't. I will update them with their respective license in the SVG metadata as suggested.
