Bug Description

press ungroup and the object is multiplied very often.

The object origins from an imported pdf. Maybe something was wrong with the import, but inkscape should not react as it does.

Please add information about OS/platform and Inkscape version to the bug description, thank you.

AFAICT the result of ungrouping is to be expected based on the SVG structure of the drawing (a huge rectangular path with a page-sized bitmap pattern fill, wrapped in a group which is clipped to the page size. On ungrouping, you delete (release) the clip, and thus reveal the unclipped pattern-filled rectangular path (its size exceeds the max zoom level of inkscape; the pattern fill repeats endlessly, and fills the visible portion of the rectangle).

Could you provide details about the origins of the drawing content in your attached Inkscape SVG file?

I added the original pdf. The problem only occurs, when "import with poppler" is selsected.

The conversion PDF->SVG with this type of import is handled by external
libraries (poppler, poppler-glib, poppler-cairo). The result varies
depending e.g. on which poppler version is installed on the local
system, see attached examples created with latest Inkscape trunk
(r14194) in different builds environments, using

- poppler 0.18.4
- poppler 0.22.1
- poppler 0.33.0

AFAICT more recent poppler releases produce an SVG structure which
matches your expectation somewhat better.

Ubuntu 12.04 does have poppler 0.18.4:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libpoppler19

Proposing to close as 'Invalid' for project Inkscape (not an Inkscape
bug). You could consider upgrading to a newer Ubuntu release which
includes a more recent poppler version, if you depend on PDF import via
poppler in Inkscape 0.91.
