Bug Description
I tried to save and then quit. X11 tells me my work isn't saved. I tried "save as" and X11 still tells me my work isn't saved. I have tried changing the filename. This the second time it has happened and last time just closed and crossed my fingers - but it didn't work out.

Please add information about OS X version ( > About this Mac), X11/XQuartz version (X11 > About X11) and Inkscape version (see Inkscape menu 'Help > About Inkscape') to the bug description.

Note that Inkscape has its own quit command (Inkscape menu 'File > Quit', or keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl+Q'). There is no need to (force-)quit the X11 server (⌘+Q) each time you want to quit Inkscape (especially if you plan to use Inkscape repeatedly in the current OS X session). Doing that will only slow down the launching of inkscape, because the X11 server (unnecessarily) has to be launched anew each time. It does not harm your computer either if you keep X11 running (it will stay in the background) ...

- Which file format did you choose for saving?
- Where did you try to save it to (location)?
- Do you have write permission at the location you chose to save the file to?
- Which file name did you enter?
- Can you describe the content of the drawing you attempted to save?
- Did you wait before (force-)quitting the X11 server until Inkscape had properly finished saving the file? (there is a message briefly displayed in Inkscape's status bar at the bottom of the Inkscape document window once the file was saved successfully; and the asterisk ('*') in front of the file name in the title bar of the inkscape document window disappears).
Without additional details, this report can neither be further investigation as bug report, nor could we attempt to help you (outside the scope of a bug tracker) to learn basics about using Inkscape and other X11-based applications on your Mac.
