Bug Description

After a minute or so, Inkscape crashes by showing an empty dialog box. It does not matter what you did before, it crashes each and every time. Sometimes it takes a bit more than a minute, sometimes less. Sometimes it takes 100% CPU time, sometimes nothing.
If started from the command line you see this:

Emergency save activated!

Emergency save document locations:
<here the filename it choses to save the file>
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.

System information:
Fedora 21
kernel 3.18.8
inkscape 0.91-2

Which desktop do you use?
If the desktop is KDE-based, which custom theme (engine) for GTK+ apps?

Other things to check:
- conflicts with input managers (bug #1257413, or bug #1323061)
- ...

It would be most helpful if you could attach a backtrace of the crash ((likely, there are instructions available by Fedora about how to to create backtraces for bug reports - the details may vary depending on which distro and package manager is used).

GTK+ styles: widget-theme QtCurve

I'm not getting similar error messages as both bugs with regard to input managers. I'm not even using any text elements.

I installed all the debug-info packages and ran inkscape with gdb. I logged the backtrace with
gdb inkscape

# program crashes

The output of the backtrace is attached. Hopefully this will help you identifying the problem.

AFAICT this was reported earlier as
- Bug #1422479 “Crash under Plasma5 an qtcurve”
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1422479

Could you please confirm that one of the workaround/fixes mentioned in the comments there (e.g. switch to Raleigh as theme engine for GTK+) prevents these kind of crashes shortly after launching Inkscape?
