Some fonts do not display when typing or importing. Object disappears.

When either importing or typing new text in a new document, the default, and other fonts do not display. Text typed in a problem font is lost when the object is deselected. The object disappears, and when imported, there is no object to select. As you type, the cursor moves as if the typed text is white, but nothing shows up. If any part of the text object is a problem font, the object disappears, even if there is some text that DOES appear.

Please add information about OS/platform and Inkscape version (see Inkscape menu 'Help > About Inkscape') to the bug description.

If on Windows, please also include information about which Inkscape installer was used (32bit|64bit, exe|msi|exe.paf|7z).

I had tried adding a comment shortly after posting with that information, but the comment failed. Here's attempt 3...

Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 on Windows Vista SP2 x64
As to which installer was used, likely .msi for 64 bit, but it was so long ago that I do not recall.

I see now there's a big jump in version to 0.91, but I can't update the version due to permission restrictions on my workstation. It may resolve the issue... but in the meantime it is a big problem.

More information... Arial Black does not work. Arial Narrow works, but if Italic style is enabled, it does not work.

@stefan - You can use the Portable apps or binary archive versions. They can both be installed with user permissions.
