Bug Description

After importing a png file and editing as needed I save as "optimized svg." Then when I go to close the image or the program, Inkscape asks me if I want to save as an inkscape svg. Since I already saved it as "optimized svg" I choose no. But then the optimized image is not in the folder where I saved it. It seems as though I can only save as an Inkscape svg.

Is that true? What is the difference between "optimized svg" and an inkscape svg? Whenever closing a file or the program Inkscape keeps cycling back and asking to save as Inkscape svg.

I am running Windows 7.1 Service pack 1 64 bit.

Which installer did you use for Inkscape? (32bit|64bit, exe|msi|paf.exe|7z)?

- which directory did you save to?
- was it by any chance a system directory?
- were you able to save successfully the same file as normal svg, not optimized?
- I think what I would suggest is to first save the file as normal svg, confirm that it actually exists, then save it as optimized svg using a different filename and confirm that it exists as well, and then exit Inkscape and ignore the warning about the file not being saved.
- to show the difference between the two types, on Windows 7, 32 bit, I saved the following file with an embedded png

Additional info (from the original question):
" I save as "optimized svg." There is no additional dialog box."
-> The dialog for adjusting the settings for optimization does not pop up.
