Bug Description

Inkscape 0.48.5 (r10040), MacOS 10.10, XQuartz 2.7.7

Extensions > Render > Gear yields error: "The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml"

Python module info report may have been made after installing extra extensions; temporarily marking as invalid.

Confirmed; bug was in added extensions, *not* Inkscape. Invalid report; my apologies.

No problem - thanks for testing Inkscape on Yosemite Beta releases, and reporting issues you encounter there.

Apple seems to have messed up old python versions quite badly in the second Beta:
> Python sys.version:
> 2.6.9 (unknown, Aug 8 2014, 11:00:41)

> /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/bin/python

> sys.path:

> /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/lib/python2.6

Such inconsistency would certainly affect other applications too, which really depend on Python 2.5 … luckily the Mac OS X package of 0.48.5 does include the modules for Python 2.6, and extensions should work out-of-the-box (as long as Apple doesn't remove / break support for any Python 2 version older than 2.7).
