When I create a hexagon (or any polygon), the pen tool can not lock on to the midpoint of one of the lines

I created a hexagon and then took the bezier tool (pen tool) and locked onto the center. I was able to lock on to all the

midpoints on all the lines of the polygon except for the line in the top left. It locks on to the line itself, but not its midpoint.

Do you have a screenshot that shows the issue so that we can more clearly understand your problem?

The picture shows that even though I am on or close to the middle of the line it does not register the midpoint or lock on to it like the other lines of the polygon.

I think it is a duplicate of that bug. Even when I convert it to path that one line has no lockable midpoint.

Thanks for the feedback. Based on local tests (OS X 10.7.5):
- reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.5,
- not reproduced with Inkscape 0.91pre2 r1352,
and on inspection of the path data representing such a polygon, this is indeed a duplicate of bug #590486 (will be fixed in the next major release 0.91).

Workaround with current stable e.g.:
1) draw the polygon
2) convert to path
3) switch to the node tool
4) select one of the nodes and click on 'Break path at selected nodes'
    (4th button on the node tool controls bar)

Technically, the polygon is no longer a closed path now, but since start and end node coincide, it can still be filled like the original shape, while snapping to the midpoints of all segments now works as expected.
