Bug Description
I click on the "A" on the left panel in order to create text.
I click on the "T" on the right panel so that text properties such as font face, size, alignment and the like show up.
I select "Dejavu Sans Mono", "bold" and centered.
I draw a rectangle in the document to create the area for writing text.
At this point all the text properties I had set are forgotten, and go back to Sans, normal, and left-aligned. Plus black is now selected as the fill color despite I had selected white like a dozen times before. So I select white again.
So, while the text rectangle is there and the cursor is blinking, I go to the "Text and Font" window which is still open, and I select Dejavu Sans Mono, bold and centered AGAIN.
I click Apply.
Now finally I can write my text and it preserves the properties.
Now I draw another text rectangle somwhere else. Fuck, it has again all the default values for everything. I set them right. NOTE that you must remember to do this AFTER you have drawn the text area rectangle and while it is selected, not before, otherwise it will be useless.
Now I want to move and resize a little bit the former text area. So I click within it, that selects it. Fine. But I only see a small diamond on the lower right corner, not on the top-left, so i can only resize from that end. I can't seem to be able to move the textbox.
After trying clicking here and there, I find out that by clicking on the diamond on the bottom right corner, a square appears on the top-left too, so I do can move it and resize it as expected; took a while to figure out, though.
All this process is painful. Compare this to doing the same task in GIMP, for example, that's waaaaaay easier and more intuitive. And note that GIMP is far from being a brilliant example of usability.

This is an old bug but it is back. I am using Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 3.2.7 64 bit on an Intel I7 laptop.
Have tried Inkscape 0.91 and 0.92. The text path offset is greyed out permanently in 0.92.
