Bug Description
Hi,
my Hardware:
Mac OSX 10.9.3 / 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7
Inkscape 0.48.2 r9819
XQuartz 2.7.6 (xorg server 1.14.6)
Macbook (Retina) with a widescreen Dell Display (1940x1280, Main Display) via HDMI, Belina Display (1280x1024) via VGA
When I use inkscape on the main Display or the VGA Display, different windows in inkscape do not pop up (e.g export bitmap, document preferences).
It works only on the mac book display. When I use the mac book as standalone machine, it works too. Never on another display.
I found out, that the window is there (pops up on macbook), but I can not see it - it is invisible. The click area is there and the cursor changes to "type something".
I am using Inkscape for professional business projects - it would be great to have a solution for this.
Multi-monitor support of XQuartz on OS X 10.9 Mavericks is known to be partially broken - this is a problem which Apple must fix in a future update of Mavericks (according to the developer and maintainer of XQuartz).

Wrt dialog windows which open off-screen (or in-between the native OS X spaces used for the different displays) and can't be reached (aka invisible, but initially have focus for input) - you could test the workaround described for document properties here (you might have to repeat the steps twice to make it work): /bugs.launchpad .net/inkscape/ +bug/1272865/ comments/ 2>

(Note: AFAICT the workaound will only work for dockable dialogs, which reuse the current mouse pointer position on close as center position of the same dialog the next time it is opened. For non-dockable dialogs in Inkscape 0.48 like 'Bitmap Export' there doesn't seem to exist a workaround to the best of my knowledge (except that manually resetting the stored x, y position in the preferences file might help if the dialog was last used with a different screen configuration)).
