Bug Description

I'm using Inkscape 0.48+devel r13280

I'm on windows 7 (64 bits). My machine is a Laptop Toshiba with amd proccesor Phenom II Quad Core 1.60 Ghz, 4GB ram.

Let's say I draw a lot of objects in the canvas. I select a bunch of them. Then I drag them, holding the left mouse button. The objects doesn't move, or they move slow, and not in the place I want.

I've tried to change some preferences, like the number of proccesor, but it doesn't work.

I don't know if it's enough with this information.

Thanks

We need more information—filtered or blurred objects are renderer heavy, and SVG files with lots of elements are often slow. Canvas size and zoom level also make a big difference.

Based on the description, this could be related e.g. to bug #1198317 or bug #906952 (both regressions in trunk, not related to filter effects). Can't be further investigated tough without more details (steps to reproduce, a sample SVG file, the currently preferences file, etc.) which would allow identical tests on other systems, with different builds of Inkscape trunk and stable.

The number of threads only affects rendering of filter effects - if there are none used in the current drawing, it won't have any impact on the performance when dragging regular objects at all.

Hello,
I'm attaching a sample file.

- Just try to move any path, or 3 or 4 at the same time, using your mouse.
- In my case, I drag those paths, and after maybe 1 or 2 secs the selected paths move just a little.
- Then move a little my mouse, while still holding the right button, and just at that moment the selection moves to the desired position, more or less.

On OS X 10.7.5, not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48+devel r13279, r13294 (tested with cairo 1.12.2, 1.12.16, recent git master), using default new prefs.

(The bounding box frame of dragged objects updates with a small delay (compared to current stable 0.48.4), but the selected object(s) themselves move in sync with the mouse pointer, as expected.)

Not reproduced on Windows 7, Inkscape trunk revision 13303. I can select the whole canvas and move everything as expected, with no significant delay.

Could you please give your graphic card model? The most recent Cairo versions (not the ones shipped in the Windows devlibs, but who knows...) are very slow with Intel graphic cards.

Hello
Sound bad news for me. In my system the delay is noticeable.
I re-installed 0.48, and all works as spected.

Thanks all for answering. Here is the information given by win 7. It's in
spanish but I think it's understandable

Tipo del adaptador de monitor ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series
Memoria de gráficos disponible en total 1 917 MB
Memoria dedicada de gráficos 256 MB
Memoria dedicada del sistema 0 MB
Memoria compartida del sistema 1661 MB
Mostrar la versión del controlador del adaptador 8.723.2.0
Resolución del monitor principal 1366x768
Versión de DirectX
DirectX 10

I'm attachin the file preferences that i found on:
C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\inkscape
