Bug Description

What I do:

File menu > import from openclipart > search "wall"
Then I preview all items in descending order, and for some reason, the network or openclipart hangs.

What I expect:

A possibility of getting back to work, or at least save my work

What happens:

the *modal* dialog for item selection is not redrawn, and does not receives clicks. I cannot but kill inkscape after waiting 10 minutes.

I pseudo reproduced it with 0.48.4 r9939 on Ubuntu 13.10, however it actually crashed instead of indefinitely hanging and is consistently reproducible.

I cannot reproduce with 0.48.x branch r9989 on Ubuntu 13.10... the performance is definitely pretty bad but I can't get it to hang or crash and tried over a dozen times.

This will no longer be an issue in 0.49 as the dialog has been rewritten and it doesn't have the performance issues the current one has.

If someone else could test with the stable branch, we may be able to mark as Fix Committed at least.

Changed in inkscape:
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Wishlist → High
