Color palette displays content from previous window

Bug Description
Steps to reproduce:
1. Grab a Thinkpad X220
2. Install Debian Sid amd64 with KDE
3. Install Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 from the Debian repos
4. Open a bunch of random widows with random content in them
5. Maximize these windows
6. Open Inkscape
7. Tab between Inkscape and the other windows.
8. Observe
Expected results:
Inkscape tabs into view and redraws correctly
Actual results:
When Inkscape tabs back in, the color palette at the bottom of the window is redrawn with residual content from the previous window being topped. Depending on the coloring of the window, the palette might be displayed lighter or just completely white. Please see screen shots.
