Outline display mode hides pattern fills

Bug Description

When creating a pattern which contains multiple paths, each with multiple nodes the "Normal" display mode (rendering) is a little laggy. Therefore, it would be preferable to view the pattern filling an object in "Outline" mode so rendering does not take as long. All patterns become hidden when setting the "display mode" to "outline," however the paths to create the pattern are shown as outlines. It would help if the pattern outlines could be seen so the user can tell which objects have been filled.

To access this option:
View > Display mode > Normal/Outline

Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939
Windows 7

Looking for Outline display mode in pattern fills so that can convert pattern to path so we can used in vector marking machine.
