Inkscape crashes on save file, open file and quit

Bug Description

Arch Linux 64-bit - Gnome 3.8.2
Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch inkscape from terminal -> Inkscape launches with no errors.
2. File -> Open -> Inkscape crashes and returns to terminal with following information:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Can open Fill and Stroke controls, document properties, print and Inkscape preferences without crashing.
Opening 'About Inkscape' opens an empty window which can not be closed.

Is this still happening with the latest Gtk+ and Inkscape?

Closing as there has been no response for several years. As I cannot reproduce this issue with Inkscape 0.92.4 and it was Arch Linux specific, it's unlikely that this bug is still relevant.
