Bug Description
This problem is a bit strange and hard to explain so I think it's best to give step-by-step instructions to reproduce the problem:
1. Create a new document
2. Create two rectangles and fill them e.g. blue and red
3. Create a third rectangle and fill it e.g. green
4. Open the "Fill and Stroke / Fill" dialog for the third rectangle
Now suppose you want to change the color of the third rectangle by using the color picker, but not directly by clicking but by copying / pasting the RGBA value:
5. Choose the color picker tool
6. Hover on the blue rectangle and press "Ctrl+C" to save the RGBA color value to clipboard
7. Paste the color value in the "Fill" dialog, the third rectangle should now correctly be filled with blue
8. Notice that the color picker is still active, hover over the red rectangle and press "Ctrl+C" again (It should store this color value now)
9. Paste the color value in the "Fill" dialog - NOTHING happens, the third rectangle is still filled with blue instead of red, the color value was not saved to the cliboard.
Sometimes it seem to help if you select the color picker again (by simply clicking on the symbol again) but in some cases you even have to deselect the rectangle an reselect it before it works again.
This behavior is quite strange, I first noticed it when I edited gradients in the gradient editor and wanted to pick various colors from the opened drawing (same problem as above, only the first time one presses "Ctrl+C" the color value is actually saved to the clipboard).
Reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.4 and trunk revision 12262.
