modifying svgoutput in preferences.xml affects the next save of preferences.xml

Bug Description

following the instructions here: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Icons#Single_SVG_File to try to save the icons.svg file.. i noticed that after i closed my inkscape instance, the preferences.xml was now saved in single lines, no indents.. ie, the exact options i selected for the svgoutput.. this should not be the case.

Confirmed on Debian testing, Inkscape trunk revision 12026.
I'd agree the svgoutput preferences should not affect the xml file itself, but we need to check the mailing list and feature specifications to be sure it's not a wanted behavior.
