Bug Description
The Meta (or Command or Windows Flag) key is currently not detected as a modifier by Inkscape. This patch allows the use of the Meta key for Mac OS X (and all other platforms)

Quick test (OS X package based closely on the instructions in bug #1096996, but without gtk-mac- integration) with 0.48.x r9943 on OS X 10.7.4: the modifier key 'Cmd' seems to work as expected (replacing 'Ctrl') in the customizable keyboard shortcuts, but is omitted everywhere in the GUI where keyboard shortcuts are displayed (menus of the main menubar, context menus, tooltips). Hard-coded shortcuts in the various tool contexts are still using 'Ctrl': e.g. 'Ctrl+H' in the node tool context (to show/hide the handles of selected nodes), or 'Ctrl+drag' with the LBM in the select, rectangle and ellipse tool for constrained scaling, etc.
Any chance this feature could be developed based on current trunk, instead of the stable release branch? Trunk (lp:inkscape) now has configurable keyboard shortcuts (editor in the preferences dialog), and it would be interesting to see whether the additional modifier would be supported there (displayed as well as accepted as input).
