Bug Description
I was able to compile inkscape on Windows Vista with MinGW, -- version = g++ (tdm-1) 4.7.1.
But I am unable to start inkscape.exe
When I try to launch inkscape.exe (by double clicking on the icon in an explorer window), the system "seems" to start the application, but then nothing happens, not even a segmentation fault or anything. Just nothing is shown at all.
When I open the task manager and THEN double click on inkscape.exe, I can see the inkscape.exe process for say one or two seconds, but then it disappears again. Still, without any error message.
I am quite puzzled as to what happens here.

Based on the discussion(s) currently going on on the developer's mailing list, you have to use TDM-GCC 4.6.1 (GCC 4.7.1 seems not to be ABI-compatible with the current stack of libraries provided in the devlibs repository): inkscape. 13.n6.nabble. com/Compiling- on-Windows- 7-x64-tt4965465 .html#a4965469>
