Bug Description
Open the attached testcase. There's a small red circle and a green path. Using the node tool, try clicking on the segment inside the circle and dragging it around: nothing will happen. Also, try using the node tool and double clicking on the segment inside the circle to create a node: nothing will happen. The segment seems to avoid being edited.
Some additional odd behavior:
1. Select the green path.
2. Verify that the segment in the circle is bugged.
3. Move some of the nodes that are unrelated to the bugged segment, keeping the overall path selected.
4. Verify that the segment in the circle is still bugged.
5. Deselect the path and reselect it.
6. Verify that the segment in the circle is no longer bugged after reselection.
Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.2, 0.48.3.1 and 0.48+devel r11823 (default new preferences) with the attached test case.
Based on the description, this is the same issue as already tracked in /bugs.launchpad .net/inkscape/ +bug/290870>
Bug #290870 “ Regression: Curve dragging via Node Tool sometimes won't work .”

It's unclear to me though, why I can't reproduce it with the test case from this report (bug #1070674). Could you provide more details about your system (do you work with mouse or use a pen/tablet?), and possibly attach your current preferences file?
