i import a picture, turn it to a pattern (ALT+I), then create a shape (like
rectangle), open "fill&stroke" window (Shift+Ctrl+F) and fill it with the
pattern i created before and then turn it to a path (Shift+Ctrl+C). when trying
to change the nodes it crashes and close while saving my latest work in my home
directory. it happens every time but not when i skip filling the object with
pattern

Yes, it seems so, since the report was against an old version.

The new node tool in current stable Inkscape 0.48 does not have this bug.

Linking as duplicate to bug #463602 - please add a comment here and revert the duplicate status if you don't agree and think these are different issues.
