Screen view doesn't always print

Bug Description

When I use my own pattern to fill with 100% opacity, what I see on the screen prints as I would expect.

If however another part of the page has any drawing without 100% opacity everything prints except my own pattern.

If I use one of the patterns provided, that prints perfectly under the same conditions.

If my own pattern doesn't have 100% opacity, again it isn't printed, although everything else on the page is.

I find this really weird.

Is there a way round this problem, before the bug is fixed?

Inkscape 0.48.1.0 on Windows XP with an HP PCL6 laser printer.

Please attach a sample SVG file with your custom pattern which exposes the reported issue, to allow further investigation with different versions of Inkscape on different systems.

Is this limited to printing (on Windows), or does the same happen if you save a copy as PostScript (or PDF) via 'File > Save'?
If saving a copy as PDF works correctly, does printing the PDF file from a PDF viewer (e.g. Adobe Reader) produce the expected hard-copy?

Many thanks for your fast response.

I have attached the SVG file as requested.

The PDF version displays and prints correctly, but I am warned on conversion that I might lose data.

My ultimate aim is to prepare vector graphics drawings and text (but not the attached!) for publication, which presumably means that I will need to convert to PDF eventually.

So what is causing Inkscape (or is it Windows?) to misbehave?

confirmed on Windows XP, Inkscape rev 11668.
The pattern at the top middle prints only if the opacity is set to 100% in the oval at the bottom right.

- the pdf output both displays and prints correctly.

- with respect to the warning message that you are getting, if this happens as you are closing Inkscape, then you can ignore it. This is a nuisance message that occurs whenever you save a document in a different format.

That's why I asked about saving a copy as PDF (menu 'File > Save a copy…') which will not result in such a message.

in both cases it is clear that the pattern is actually present, but is being hidden by something else. If I load these pdf files on an old, slow, machine , then the bottom half of the missing pattern appears briefly while loading, and is then overwritten by a blank rectangle.
