It was just weird because I've never seen a situation where Inkscape would not save and I figured it might be a conflict with something.

According to your website inkscape.org and the download redirect to Sourceforge, the latest stable release is 0.48.2. Perhaps 0.48.3.1 is a non-stable or test release, in any case, what it is giving me is 0.48.2. I have downloaded that and am installing it while writing this reply; hopefully I won't see a repeat of the problem. I don't know if it's because I installed new fonts, used an image I captured through a screenshot (so I could use the eyedropper to capture the color) or if it's just a load failure caused by a corrupted execution of Windows. Sooner or later, every execution of Windows becomes corrupted, Windows isn't Linux, it's not designed to run without rebooting for years at a time, or sometimes even hours at a time. :)

Upgrading to latest available stable version 0.48.2, if there is a link to a stable version of 48.3.1 please advise.
