Bug Description

When I draw freehand lines, there is a square at the endpoints of the line when I draw, is there is a way to prevent these squares from being shown?

No - with current stable versions (Inkscape 0.48.x), those handles are not configurable (nor can they be disabled).

The next major version (0.49) will allow to adjust the size of the handles (but not allow to turn them off completely), see attached screenshot.

Linking as duplicate to newer report bug #1086589 “Option to hide endpoints for Pencil tool” which provides a more explicit feature request as well as explains a workflow for which an option to hide the start/end node handles would be important.

Please add a comment here and revert the duplicate status if you don't agree and think these are different requests which ought to be discussed and tracked separately.
