stroke distorsion of object created in stable version

I created a rectangle with the current stable release under ubuntu 11.10 (Inkscape 0.48.2 r9819 (Jul 11 2011)). When I open this with the latest release under ubuntu 12.10 (inkscape 0.48+devel r (Jul 15 2012)) the stroke of the rectangle appears distorted. Along three side from one corner to the next the stroke sort of gradually "grows" from 0 pixel to the actual width (it should be constant). It is also quite apparent when exported to bitmap (see attached png).
I tried to open the same SVG file under firefox 14 (again under ubuntu 12.10) and it displays correctly as in the stable build of inkscape.

-> upstream issue in cairo > 1.11.2 < 1.12.3 (git), probably the same that triggers

Seems to affect only rectangles with tiny values for rounded corners. Amount of distortion varies depending on zoom level and stroke width of the rectangle.

Not reproduced with cairo 1.12.3 (git branch) -> setting bug status to 'Triaged' - can be closed for Inkscape whenever cairo 1.12.4 is released (or 1.14 (?)).

JFTR: rsvg-view, the viewer from librsvg (which also uses cairo for rendering) exposes the same rendering error, depending on the used cairo version.
